About this Event
2201 Cesar Chavez Lane, Boise, ID 83725
Boise State’s Symphonic Winds, under the direction of Dr. Myron Peterson, presents Resonate! This concert explores the many ways music resonates through space, time, and emotion. The program opens with "An Epic Fanfare" by Julie Giroux, which resonates in the literal sense, with power and grandeur resounding in the hall with a sense of anticipation and excitement. Aaron Perrine’s "Only Light", in contrast, resonates within us, emotionally, through the shared experience of loss, hope, and healing. With rapid rhythms and a driving pulse, the kinetic energy of Nathan Daughtrey’s "Twitch" taps into the physicality of resonance, surrounding us with a palpable electric atmosphere that seems to vibrate with tension and urgency. “After Fairest of the Fair," from Ira Hearshen’s "Symphony on Themes of John Philip Sousa", resonates with nostalgia as it reimagines those familiar march themes in a jocular, contemporary setting. Finally, from Finland, Timo Forsström’s "Sons of the Midnight Sun" resonates with the primal power of our ancient warrior spirit through chant and battle cries symbolizing strength through unity.
The Symphonic Winds welcome guest artists, Dr. Joe Tornello and Dr. Leslie Moreau. Additionally, this concert includes the All-Star Honor Band comprised of approximately 100 of the finest high school musicians from Idaho, Nevada, and Montana, and will be conducted by renowned wind band artist Dr. R. Mark Heidel.
